How order limits and overage work

Each plan includes a number of orders per billing cycle (e.g., Growth includes 5,000 orders). You’ll only pay overage if both conditions are met:
  1. Your total orders exceed your plan limit during the billing period
  2. You run at least one A/B test for 7 or more days during that period
Key insight: If no tests are running, overage charges do not apply, regardless of order volume. This means you can keep ABConvert installed during off-seasons or slow periods without worrying about surprise charges.
Your usage syncs daily at 4 AM UTC. You can monitor your order count and overage status anytime from the Billing page inside the ABConvert dashboard.

FAQs

Starter: New or low-volume stores starting with A/B testing Growth: Growing stores running consistent experiments (most popular) Scale: High-volume stores optimizing multiple funnels Pro: Advanced teams needing deeper support and collaboration Unlimited: Enterprise stores running continuous, large-scale testing
Every order placed through the Online Store sales channel during your billing period counts toward your plan’s order limit — whether or not those customers were part of an A/B test. Orders from other sales channels (e.g., POS, draft orders, custom apps) are not included.Note: Because Shopify counts an order the moment it is placed, cancelled, refunded, or test orders are still counted toward this limit.
Two conditions must both be true:
  1. Your store’s orders exceeded your plan limit during the billing period
  2. You were actively running at least one A/B test for 7 or more days during that period
If you had high order volume but weren’t actively testing, you won’t be charged overage. You pay only your base plan fee.
Overage is billed per 1,000 orders over your limit, rounded up.Example: You’re on Growth (5,000 order limit) and your store received 6,800 orders this month while running a price test.
  • Orders over limit: 1,800
  • Billable units: 2 (rounded up from 1.8)
  • Overage charge: 2 × 39 = _78_
  • Total for the month: 199+199 + 78 = $277
Every plan has a maximum overage charge per billing cycle, and you can check your cap in your billing page. Once you hit this cap, no additional overage is charged for the rest of that period — though new experiments will be paused until your next billing cycle begins. The cap resets automatically each cycle.
Overage is calculated and charged through Shopify’s standard 30-day billing cycle. It will be billed alongside your next subscription renewal on the same invoice, on the same date (every 30 days starting from your activation date).
